How is the current mental state of noise and confusion connected to the general broader sense of noise and contingency prevailing in our contemporary reality?
In this presentation Mattin will interrogate the notion of experience and specially its connection to a certain sense of immediacy. Confusion, desperation and a frustrating sense of alienation are the consequences of structural forms of capitalist subjugations. Even though their effects are manifested in personal experience, experience alone cannot bypass the capitalist mediations that produce these feelings. Therefore it is urgent to understand how these capitalist mediations are produced by complex historical mechanisms involving economics, culture and social interactions (more and more in the digital realm). We live in an open wound, where damaged minds and bodies have to navigate a suffocating present with a bleak future in front of us. Music cannot only give us a sense of relief but it can produce the seeds for a future form organization beyond capitalist mediations. In order to do this, we need to understand what these capitalist mediations are and the way they shape us.
