Viennese Asian Narratives Diasporic - a Pan-Asian Documentation Archive.
Asian diasporic communities are a part of the city of Vienna and its history. They are invisible inhabitants, some of whom have been living here for generations and are nevertheless regarded as strangers. The project WANDAPANDA & TIGER wants to make their diverse realities, historical traces and continuities visible. Current works of Viennese Asian-diasporic artists of different disciplines will be put in the focus, creating a meeting place for them. WANDAPANDA & TIGER is a series of events and a mobile archive in the form of a trailer cart filled with works by Asian diasporic artists from Austria and beyond.
Within the framework of SHIFT, WANDAPANDA & TIGER will take place in the summer of 2023 in four different venues in Vienna for readings, film screenings, performances and concerts by local artists.
WANDAPANDA & TIGER is organized by PERILLA, an association by and for people, who feel part of the Asian diaspora in Austria and no longer want to be invisible and silent. Perilla has been publishing the eponymous zine since 2021, organizes writing sessions and the concert series Perilla Beat.
