Guta! is an enthusiastic hobbyist of many faces. Sometimes co-curating charity compilations, recommending albums for The Wire magazine, guesting at panel discussions, getting booted mid-set for playing death metal, handing out gummi bears and luring the underground clubs with interesting club bangers across Paris, Prague, Bratislava, Budapest, Krakow and Vienna. Guta!’s unique mix of influences come from their upbringing - an epileptic and sun-allergic child, isolated between the farms of a Transdanubian village and the concrete architecture of a Hungarian planned city, Dunaújváros, named after Josef Vissarionovich Stalin and cradling a city-sized steel factory spewing endless smoke onto the horizon. The result: unsettling robot choirs, metallic kicks, folk instruments and gut-churning basslines slice the air in a refreshing union with polyrhythmic club tunes. Genre? BPM? This is for everyone who yearns for something new. The cast bulls of the Infinite Steel City have no respect for any musical tradition.
